I came to hypnotherapy from the fields of nutrition and health and social care, and I hold an MSc in Public Health and Nutrition from the University of Southhampton.
As someone who lives with long-term health issues, I wanted a career that would allow me to support people who are in a similar position to me. I investigated clinical hypnotherapy and the more I learned, the more I felt excited by its possibilities. I trained at Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) in Bristol and qualified in 2016.
My services can support anyone to make positive changes in their lives. Whether you want to quit smoking, manage a chronic health issue or move forward after a life-altering event, hypnotherapy can help.
I have professional indemnity insurance and a DBS check, so you can be assured my services are highly professional and safe.
Hypnotherapy is a vehicle for positive change
As a hypnotherapist, I see you as you, an individual who needs support in a particular area of life, whatever that is. The tools and techniques I use can help to provide that support by focusing on where you want to be rather than where you are now. Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to evoke change and positivity in your life.
As a child, I lived with sight and hearing problems, often finding that my schoolmates struggled to understand and accept the difficulties I was facing. As is often the case, this affected me mentally, leading to low self-confidence and anxiety issues. Without proper treatment, my mental health problems followed me through university and the first stages of my career.
Since then, I’ve experienced numerous medical issues from osteoporosis to brain seizures and chronic pain. I even had a six-month stint in a wheelchair and spent two months in hospital recuperating after an accident. I’ve been through countless hospital appointments and care plans and endured encounters with people who never seemed to look at me as a whole person. Instead, they saw a collection of symptoms.
I’m not telling you this for sympathy, what I’m trying to say is, “I get it”. I understand how hard it is. I’ve been through the full range of emotions:
Anger - “Why me?”
Anxiety - “How will I cope?”
Despair - ”I can’t do it.”
Throughout the rollercoaster of feelings, I knew I didn’t want pity. I wanted my power back. And hypnotherapy gave me the tools to achieve that.
The thing I’ve learned through all of this is the importance of not giving up, of finding the positives and focusing on the future. I believe whole-heartedly in the impact that solution-focused hypnotherapy can have on the psychological effects of a chronic physical condition.
Perhaps you can relate to my story on some level.
If you feel you’re ready for something to change, then I believe I’m the person to help make that possible. I’d love to give you the tools and techniques to get you back in control and living your best life.
